Dearly beloved we are gathered together here in the sight of God and these witnesses, to join together this man and this woman in Holy Matrimony, which is a honorable estate instituted by God… Reverend, wilt thou have this woman to be thy wedded wife, to live together, to be scrutinized by the church, and to do everything they tell her to, after God’s ordinance, in the holy estate of matrimony?  Wilt thou love her, comfort her, honor and protect her from the slaughter, keep her in sickness and in health, and forsaking all others, except the church, keep thee only unto her as long as ye both shall live?  Sister, wilt thou have the Reverend to be thy wedded husband, to live together after God’s ordinance in the holy estate of matrimony?  Wilt thou, obey him, and the people in the congregation, serve them without reservation, love him and them, honor them and him, and keep them in sickness and in health forsaking who you were created to be, keep thee only to him and them, keep their secrets, and ignore their lies, so long as he lives and attends that local fellowship… With this ring I wed thee and this local fellowship, and with my worldly goods I thee endow, in the name of the Father the Son, and the Holy Ghost AMEN.  I now pronounce you HUSBAND and PREACHER’S WIFE! You may now solute the CONGREGATION! Often times this is how you may feel, which is why “The Preacher’s Wife” was created with YOU in mind!  A preacher’s wife constantly on display, continually ridiculed, ceaselessly greeted with enormous demands.  This ministry was generated with you in mind.  On the verge of anger, bitterness, resentment, and despair, this my dear sister, was fashioned just for you.  Are your children on exhibit for all to magistrate, let me present a place of reprieve.  A domicile, where you can just be you!  No pretense, no demands, no being under a microscope.
